The contemporary Crystal rugs come from an area in the Chuska Mountains. Their distinctive, simple banded patterns were developed in the 1940′s. Crystals generally incorporate bands of wavy lines created by alternating two or more wefts of contrasting color. The color palette is most often earth tones made of vegetal dyes. They make excellent floor rugs.
